Fresh Ideas Serves Up $150K Boost for Future Wellness Center at Williams

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Williams Baptist University is one step closer to a major campus upgrade thanks to a $150,000 gift from food service provider Fresh Ideas.

The check was presented Tuesday, Jan. 13, and will support construction of the planned J.E. & L.E. Mabee Wellness Center at Williams Baptist University.

Alanda Cantrell, vice president of safety and compliance with Fresh Ideas, presented the gift to WBU President Dr. Stan Norman. Also attending were Chef Paul Harmon and Jenny Young, who oversee Fresh Ideas dining operations on campus, along with Dr. Pat Taylor, executive consultant at Williams.

“Fresh Ideas is a great partner with WBU, providing excellent food service for our campus, and this gift is deeply appreciated,” Norman said. “Their generosity moves us a big step closer to a facility that will afford a whole new level of wellness and recreation at Williams.”

The Mabee Wellness Center is planned for a site along Fulbright Avenue and is expected to feature basketball courts, weight and fitness equipment, a gaming area, a student lounge and additional amenities designed to support student health and campus life.

Fresh Ideas currently operates the Mabee-Gwinup Cafeteria and the Eagle Coffeehouse & Grill, serving students daily and providing catering for campus and community events.
