Woman Arrested After Alleged Burglary, Assault at Jonesboro Apartment

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is facing a Class Y felony and multiple additional charges following an alleged assault and burglary at an apartment earlier this month.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro police officers responded on Jan. 13, 2026, to a reported disturbance at the Links Apartments involving a domestic incident.

Police said Caitlin Smith, 25, arrived at the residence of her ex-girlfriend and asked to retrieve diapers. When the alleged victim refused to allow her inside, Smith allegedly removed the screen from a living room window and climbed into the apartment.

Once inside, Smith is accused of initiating a physical altercation. The affidavit states she struck the victim in the head with a barstool, causing a laceration and bruising to the victim’s left eye. Smith is also accused of intentionally damaging the victim’s property, including a video game console, and stealing multiple pieces of gaming equipment.

The victim fled the apartment to escape the assault, according to police. Smith allegedly pursued her while armed with a pair of scissors before leaving the scene in a vehicle with the stolen property.

Officers were dispatched and provided with a suspect description and vehicle information. An officer later observed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop after Smith allegedly attempted to flee.

Police reported Smith refused repeated commands to exit the vehicle and actively resisted arrest, requiring officers to use physical force to remove her from the car. A search of the vehicle reportedly led officers to locate the stolen gaming equipment described by the victim.

Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony; aggravated assault on a family or household member, a Class D felony; and misdemeanor charges of third-degree domestic battery, theft of property, first-degree criminal mischief, obstructing governmental operations, and resisting arrest.

Bail was set at $150,000 by Judge Tommy Fowler with conditions for a no-contact order and GPS monitoring.

Smith’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 27.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
