VIDEO: High-Speed Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle Ends With Arrest on Jonesboro Streets

JONESBORO, Ark. — A high-speed pursuit involving a stolen vehicle that began on Interstate 555 on Jan. 1, 2026, ended with the arrest of a Jonesboro man after multiple law enforcement agencies intervened.

According to an incident report from Arkansas State Police Troop C, the Trumann Police Department notified dispatch at approximately 8:05 p.m. that officers were pursuing a stolen vehicle northbound on Interstate 555 out of Jonesboro.

A state trooper traveling southbound near the 38-mile marker repositioned through the median as the pursuit passed northbound. At approximately 8:13 p.m., the trooper took the lead near the 42-mile marker and observed the suspect vehicle traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

The trooper attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention, or TVI, on the passenger side of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway, enter a ditch, and strike a Highway Department fence. Despite the impact, the vehicle continued onto Apache Drive and then northbound on Redwolf Drive.

The pursuit continued through city streets, where the vehicle was observed driving recklessly, entering oncoming traffic, and running red lights before turning westbound onto Highland Drive and later northbound onto Caraway Road.

Near Nettleton Avenue, another opportunity for a TVI occurred, but the vehicle swerved into a parking lot before re-entering Caraway Road. Trooper Brian Merrill then joined the pursuit and assumed the lead.

Merrill performed a TVI that caused the vehicle to slide into a curb and become disabled. Officers from Trumann Police Department, Craighead County Sheriff’s Office, and Jonesboro Police Department assisted with a felony takedown.

The driver was identified as David K. Medina, 40, of Jonesboro. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Medina was charged with felony fleeing, felony criminal mischief, felony theft by receiving, reckless driving, speeding, failure to stop at a red light, and driving on a suspended license.

Judge Barbara Halsey set Medina’s bail at $250,000 cash or surety. Jail records show he remains incarcerated as of this post.

No information has been released indicating the passenger was charged.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
