PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation into allegations of sexual abuse involving a juvenile, according to court records.
Joshua Matheney has been charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, both Class B felonies.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline and the Paragould Police Department received a report on Jan. 11 involving a 16-year-old female who disclosed sexual abuse. The following day, the alleged victim was interviewed by an investigator with the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division.
During the interview, the alleged victim reported that sexual acts occurred between Nov. 27, 2025, and Jan. 10, 2026, and identified Matheney as the offender. Specifically, the affidavit alleges that the defendant touched her breasts on multiple occasions.
Court records state that Matheney was interviewed by investigators on Jan. 12 at the Paragould Police Department after being advised of his Miranda rights. According to the affidavit, Matheney made statements to investigators during that interview.
Judge Curtis Hitt set Matheney’s bond at $250,000.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
