JONESBORO, Ark. — A Calico Rock man has been arrested and charged with rape following a Jonesboro Police Department investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers spoke with the alleged victim at a hospital on Dec. 20, 2025. The alleged victim reported she had been communicating with a man identified as Terry Nicholas Mitchell for several weeks after meeting him online and invited him to return to Jonesboro with her that day.
The victim told police that Mitchell later asked to sleep in her bed. She said she consented to that request but explicitly stated there would be no sexual contact.
Court records state the alleged victim later awoke to unwanted sexual contact and told Mitchell “no.” She reported a second incident of non-consensual sexual intercourse before yelling for him to leave the residence.
According to the affidavit, the victim moved to another area of the residence, where Mitchell allegedly followed her. Investigators said interior security footage corroborated portions of the victim’s account and showed Mitchell standing over her and apologizing.
As Mitchell prepared to leave the residence, police said security footage showed him swiping the victim’s cellphone before heading toward the exit. A second camera near the front door reportedly captured audio of Mitchell stating, “I guess I won’t be hearing from you again,” while apologizing one final time. Police said Mitchell then fled the scene on foot.
Terry Mitchell, 29, of Calico Rock, was arrested and charged with rape, a Class Y felony.
Bond was set at $200,000 by Judge Barbara Halsey. A no-contact order and ankle monitor were also ordered as conditions of release. Mitchell’s next court date is scheduled for Feb. 27.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
