JONESBORO — Police arrested a 20-year-old Augusta woman following a two-vehicle crash in Jonesboro that injured another driver and involved an improperly restrained child passenger, according to a probable cause affidavit released on Tuesday.
Officers responded on Dec. 21, 2025, to a two-vehicle traffic accident at the intersection of Highland Drive and Red Wolf Boulevard.
Investigators said a vehicle driven by Precious Ross was traveling northbound in the inside lane of Red Wolf Boulevard when it entered the intersection and veered left, striking another vehicle head-on. The other driver had been stopped in the southbound left-turn lane of Red Wolf Boulevard, waiting to turn onto Highland Drive.
The force of the impact caused heavy damage and disabled both vehicles.
The driver of the struck vehicle was transported by EMS to a local hospital with a broken wrist and was later transferred to a medical facility in Memphis, Tennessee, for reconstructive surgery, police said.
A 1-year-old child, identified as Ross’s son, was riding in the rear seat of Ross’s vehicle at the time of the crash. Officers determined the child was not properly secured in a car seat, according to the report.
During the on-scene investigation, officers noted multiple signs of impairment in Ross. Police said Ross admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash. A search of the vehicle reportedly revealed an open container of alcohol within reach of the driver’s seat.
Ross submitted to a blood alcohol test, which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.19%, more than twice the legal limit, police said.
Ross was arrested and charged with second-degree battery causing injury while intoxicated, a Class C felony; first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, a Class D felony; driving while intoxicated; careless and prohibited driving; possession of an open container; purchase of alcohol by a minor; and failure to use a child restraint.
Bond was set at $75,000 with the condition that Ross wear a BAC-monitoring ankle device.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
