JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman was arrested after police say she assaulted and threatened her fiancée during a disturbance at a South Madison Street residence, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Jonesboro police officers responded to the 1200 block of South Madison Street around 9:25 p.m. on Dec. 21, 2025, in reference to a disturbance. The alleged victim told officers she had been assaulted by her fiancée, Lauren Dennee Stevens, after Stevens had been drinking heavily and arguing with her for several hours. The alleged victim said the argument escalated into a physical altercation.
According to the report, the victim said Stevens began pushing and pulling her throughout the home while threatening to kill her. The victim told officers that Stevens then picked up a knife, “menaced her” with it, and threw it across the room.
The victim said Stevens later pinned her to the floor and choked her to the point her air intake was restricted. As the victim attempted to contact police, Stevens allegedly took her phone to prevent her from calling for help.
The victim was eventually able to recover her phone and contact authorities. Officers took Stevens into custody at the scene.
Stevens, 36, of Jonesboro, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening, both Class D felonies. She was also charged with second-degree false imprisonment or kidnapping, second-degree interference with emergency communication, and second-degree assault, all misdemeanors.
During a court appearance Monday, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler set Stevens’ bail at $35,000 cash or surety and issued a no-contact order.
Stevens is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 27.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
