JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro teenager was arrested after police say he pointed a stolen handgun at his father during a domestic disturbance, according to a police report.
On Dec. 20, officers were dispatched to a residence on Sullivan Circle, where they detained two males while investigating the incident.
The alleged victim told officers his son, Jordan Quinton Jones, had been causing a disturbance inside the home. The victim said he stepped in and told Jones that he needed to leave the residence.
According to the report, the victim said Jones became confrontational, got into his face and began threatening him. The victim told officers Jones then swung at him, prompting the victim to defend himself.
The victim said Jones eventually broke away and ran into a bedroom, where Jones retrieved a firearm. The victim told officers Jones returned and pointed the gun at him, saying, “what’s up?”
The report states that Jones’ wife attempted to calm him down earlier but was unsuccessful. The victim also told officers that Jones had been living at the residence with his mother.
Police later recovered the handgun and confirmed it had been reported stolen out of Cross County. Officers also determined Jones was under an active no-contact order at the time of the incident, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm.
Jones, 18, of Jonesboro, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a family or household member and theft by receiving a firearm, both Class D felonies. He was also charged with violation of a no-contact order, a misdemeanor.
During a court appearance, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler set Jones’ bail at $25,000 cash only.
Jones is scheduled to return to court on Jan. 23.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
