Ambulance Involved in Collision While Transporting Patient in Newport

NEWPORT, Ark. — An ambulance from the Tuckerman Fire Department and Volunteer Ambulance Service was involved in a collision Monday evening while transporting a patient to the emergency room, officials said.

According to the department, the crash happened in Newport while crew members were en route with a patient. A total of four people were taken to Unity Health in Newport following the incident.

No names or conditions were released.

Tuckerman Fire and Ambulance personnel expressed gratitude for the response from multiple agencies, including Newport Fire/EMS, Diaz Fire Department, Southern EMS, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Diaz Police Department, Newport Police Department, Tuckerman Police Department and Newport Mayor Derrick Ratliffe. Additional assistance was provided both at the crash scene and later at the hospital.

The department asked the public to keep its firefighter, EMT, the patient, and all involved in their thoughts as the investigation and recovery process continues.
