Driver Accused of 360-Degree Spin Fleeing Trooper; Bail Set at $100K

JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro defendant is accused of leading a state trooper on a dangerous pursuit Sunday that included a Tactical Vehicle Intervention, a 360-degree spin, and a foot chase through the Lowe’s parking lot, according to an Arkansas State Police affidavit.

Trooper Victor Garcia wrote that on Nov. 30, 2025, he attempted to pull over a small black passenger car traveling northbound on South Caraway Road with expired dealership tags. The driver, later identified as Shamiyah John’na Johnson, 20, of Jonesboro, allegedly accelerated away from the stop, initiating a pursuit.

The suspect vehicle turned onto Race Street and then north onto Fair Park Boulevard, the affidavit said. Garcia executed a TVI that was unsuccessful, and Johnson allegedly continued north on Fair Park. A second TVI caused the vehicle to rotate approximately 360 degrees and come to a stop facing the wrong direction in the northbound lane.

Immediately after stopping, Johnson reportedly fled on foot into the Lowe’s parking lot. Garcia wrote that she ignored repeated commands to stop. He caught up to her near the Garden Center, where Johnson allegedly climbed onto a stack of mulch bags and refused to come down for several minutes.

When she eventually descended and attempted to run again, Garcia grabbed her arm as she tried to pull away. The affidavit states that Johnson resisted handcuffing until the trooper guided her to the ground and secured her without further incident.

Johnson faces charges including felony fleeing, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, fleeing on foot, no seat belt, no liability insurance, refusal to submit, and failure to register, court records show.

Judge David Boling set bail at $100,000 cash, noting in court that he was concerned for public safety regarding this defendant.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
