JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman is facing a felony charge after police say she was driving erratically, ran multiple red lights, and was found with an open pill bottle in her lap during a traffic stop.
Karen Ann Primm, 61, was arrested on Nov. 16 and charged with felony DWI-4th, along with careless and prohibited driving and running a red light. Court records show this is her fourth DWI arrest, with prior convictions in 2018, 2019, and 2023.
Judge Tommy Fowler set her bond at $25,000 cash only. Despite that, Craighead County jail records show she was released at 3:50 p.m. the same day.
According to the affidavit, Jonesboro officers responded to multiple calls about a hazardous driver and located the vehicle at Main and Oak. Officers observed the vehicle veer off the roadway onto a sidewalk, re-enter traffic, and then run red lights at Main and Matthews and again at Main and Washington.
When officers stopped the vehicle, they found Primm behind the wheel with an orange pill bottle with no lid in her lap. Police said her speech was slurred, she had delayed responses, and was unable to complete field sobriety tests. She was arrested for DWI.
After her arrest, officers confirmed the prior DWI convictions, enhancing the latest charge to a felony under Arkansas law.
Primm’s next court date is Jan. 23.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
