PARAGOULD, Ark. — Police arrested a Paragould defendant after an alleged domestic disturbance in which the alleged victim reported being choked, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
Mark Powers, 30, of Paragould, was arrested on a Class D felony charge of aggravated assault on a family or household member. Bail had not yet been set as of this report.
Police responded around noon on Nov. 12 to a home after reports of a domestic disturbance, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers spoke with Powers at the residence, and he reportedly claimed the incident was only a verbal altercation.
The alleged victim had already left the residence and was located at a nearby gas station. The alleged victim told officers that Powers, their spouse, had choked them during a physical altercation. Police noted the victim had injuries consistent with being choked, the affidavit states.
Officers also noted indicators of intoxication on Powers during their contact.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
