PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man was arrested this week on multiple felony charges after police said he was recorded making death threats and later found with illegal drugs at his home.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lonnie R. Cole Jr., 36, was the subject of two separate incidents reported on Nov. 11 in which he was recorded threatening to kill others. Officers said they also had prior contact with Cole on Nov. 6 during a mental health call, where he allegedly threatened to kill officers on scene.

Detectives with the Paragould Police Department executed a search warrant on Nov. 12 at Cole’s residence in connection with the terroristic threatening investigation. During the search, officers said they observed illegal controlled substances in plain view.

Police obtained a second warrant to seize the drugs and any other contraband, locating additional illegal substances inside the home.

Cole was arrested on two counts of terroristic threatening, Class D felonies, possession of a schedule I or II substance not meth or cocaine, a Class B felony, and possession of a schedule III controlled substance, more than two grams, less than 28 grams, a Class D felony.

Bail had not yet been set as of Wednesday.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
