Jonesboro Suspect on Probation Arrested After Attempted Break-In

JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect was arrested after police said he tried to break into an apartment on Arch Street while already on probation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Jonesboro Police Department responded around 8:41 p.m. Nov. 11, to an apartment at the 1700 block of Arch Street for a report of an attempted break-in.

The alleged victim told officers that when he returned home, a suspect with a bicycle pulling a trailer was standing in front of his apartment, later identified as Terry Henson. The victim said Henson claimed he was “looking for a friend” before leaving the area. Afterward, the victim noticed damage to his door consistent with an attempted entry and called the police.

Officers located Henson nearby and said a wrench found on him matched the marks left on the damaged door. Security footage from a neighbor’s camera reportedly showed Henson approaching the victim’s door before the damage occurred.

Henson was taken into custody without incident on a charge of residential burglary, a felony.

During his hearing in Craighead County District Court, Judge David Boling noted that Henson had four prior burglary or breaking-and-entering arrests and was currently on probation. Henson repeatedly interrupted the judge while asking for an own-recognizance bond, prompting the bailiff to step in and instruct him to stop.

Judge Boling set bail at $35,000 cash or surety.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
