BATESVILLE, Arkansas — The Lyon College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host its annual “Furry Frenzy Toy Toss” on Tuesday, Nov. 18, during the Lyon men’s basketball game against East Texas Baptist University. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. in Becknell Gymnasium on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville.
Admission to the game is free for any spectator who brings a new stuffed animal. Fans will toss their stuffed toys onto the court after the Scots score their first point of the game. All collected toys will be donated to the Angel Tree project sponsored by the Rotary Club of Batesville, supporting local children during the holiday season.
This year’s toy toss also includes a campus-wide competition among all Scots athletic teams and Greek Life organizations to see which group can donate the most stuffed animals.
“This is one of our favorite service traditions at Lyon because it brings so much joy to the campus and to the children who receive the toys,” said SAAC adviser Kortney Cunningham. “The moment when the court is filled with stuffed animals is always meaningful. It’s a celebration of generosity, teamwork and the true spirit of the season.”
All students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members are invited to join in the event.
