UPDATE: Craighead County Sheriff’s Office said Friday evening that a juvenile was detained in the incident.
A statement said a 17-year-old was detained after the post was traced and the suspect was identified. Authorities made contact, and no weapons were found in the juvenile’s possession.
At no point do we believe any students were in actual danger.

LAKE CITY, Ark. — A threat posted to social media has prompted an increased law enforcement presence at Riverside High School today (Friday, Oct. 17, 2025).
A statement from the school district said it was aware of the online threat. Craighead County deputies and Lake City police were notified and are providing extra presence on campus today, the school said.
These threats, whether real or not, are always taken seriously. The school district’s main focus is the safety of our students and staff.
Riverside High School Principal Matthew Ziegler told NEA Report’s Grendel Levy that the school leaped into action Friday morning, which is when he first became aware of the threat. Ziegler said school administration quickly went to work on the matter and contacted authorities.
“Student safety is our utmost concern,” Ziegler said.
According to the principal, the Craighead County Sheriff’s Department’s digital forensic specialists are working on the investigation. Authorities routinely trace posts made to social media, even anonymously, with warrants.
“I’m hopeful whoever made the threat is brought to justice very quickly,” Ziegler said.
The threat appears to have originated from or been related to a post made on Snapchat by the account “bobbyboucher9md” – an account that did not appear via a search as of 10 AM Friday.
The post, which features a photo of Riverside High School, includes the caption, “School finna get shot up.”

Concerned parents shared the image on Facebook early Friday after a child told his mom that he didn’t want to go to school because of the post.
