JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is facing allegations that he possessed child sexual abuse material, according to a probable cause affidavit released on Wednesday, October 1.
Austin Hunter Deatherage, 25, of Jonesboro, appeared before Judge David Boling for a bail hearing on Wednesday. The judge set bail at $150,000 cash or surety with an order for no internet use or devices that may connect to a cellular network.
The PC affidavit says that on Sept. 10, JPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division received a tip from Arkansas State Police regarding CSAM shared on Snapchat. The video reportedly showed the rape of a boy around the age of 5 or 6 years old.
Police say the Snapchat account sharing the disturbing content was under the name of “Austin Detherage” with a username of “austindeather19.” The phone number and email address associated with the account were confirmed to belong to the suspect, police wrote.
A search warrant connected the IP address that sent the videos to Deatherage’s address at the 1600 block of North Culberhouse.
A search warrant of the Snapchat account revealed two original videos containing CSAM, as well as a third video police said contained a young male.
Deatherage faces at least one count of possession of child sexual abuse material, a Class B felony, although prosecutors often file additional charges based on each piece of media containing the illegal material.
A Class B felony carries 5 to 20 years in prison.
The defendant is next due in court on November 25.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
