JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspect is accused of felony and misdemeanor charges after being accused of hitting a woman, then threatening to kill her, this week in Jonesboro.
At about 7:57 AM on August 27, 2025, JPD responded to the 1700 block of Wembelton Drive about a domestic assault, according to the probable cause affidavit. Officers met with a female with blood on her shirt and face. She stated that her boyfriend, Eric Brooks, had assaulted her earlier in the morning.
The alleged victim stated Brooks had woken her up and accused her of cheating on him. An argument progressed to physical violence with Brooks allegedly slapping and punching her in the face, and throwing her into a table in the living room. Officers on the scene documented physical injuries consistent with the victim’s allegations.
The victim also told police that Brooks had threatened to kill her several times during the violent incident.
Eric Shavontae Brooks, 23, of Jonesboro, was arrested without incident. He faces charges of first-degree terroristic threatening, a Class D felony, and third-degree domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
On Friday, he appeared before Circuit Judge Barbara Halsey for his bail hearing. A $35,000 cash or surety bond requirement was set for the suspect, with a no-contact order attached.
His next court appearance is scheduled for October 30.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
