JONESBORO, Ark. — A man faces charges, including felony commercial burglary, after he allegedly hid in a bathroom, waited for a store to close, and attempted to open the cash registers earlier this year in Jonesboro.
On May 10, 2025, officers responded to a burglary alarm in Joensboro, according to the probable cause affidavit. Police found an open door and cleared the business to ensure no one was still inside. An employee was then called to collect video of the possible suspects.
Review of the video revealed a white male and female, later identified as Ozzy Barnes and Emilynne Coleman. The two were seen hiding in the bathroom, waiting for the store to close. On video, police observed Barnes leaving the bathroom and walking to the front of the store. Barnes then attempted to open the cash registers but was unsuccessful. Barnes and Coleman then flee out of the fire exit.
Police positively identified Barnes after he was arrested in Poinsett County. His booking photo was compared to video evidence, the affidavit said. A warrant was obtained for his arrest pending processing in Poinsett County.
On August 20, 2025, Barnes was transported to the Craighead County Detention Center and booked on the warrant.
Ozzy Dakotalee Barnes, 22, of Trumann, faces charges of commercial burglary, a Class C felony, and misdemeanors for theft and criminal trespass. On Friday, Judge Tommy Fowler set bail at $50,000 cash or surety, noting that Barnes is on parole, has a history of theft, and has at least one failure to appear charge in the past.
His next court date is set for Sept. 30, 2025.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
