POCAHONTAS, Ark. — Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Devon Holder has formally announced his campaign for re-election, highlighting accomplishments in violent crime prosecutions, drug enforcement, and backlog reduction during his first term in office.

Holder, who took office on Jan. 1, 2023, said his campaign slogan this cycle is “Safer Communities, Proven Results.” His original 2020 campaign focused on public safety, but this time, he said, he has a record to back it up.

Upon taking office, Holder hired eight deputy prosecutors, six administrative assistants, four victim advocates and a team of Drug Task Force agents. Since then, he said, his office has successfully prosecuted thousands of felony and misdemeanor cases, including clearing a backlog of unresolved cases from prior years.

Holder also pointed to several other major accomplishments:

  • A high number of jury convictions in violent criminal cases
  • More than $12 million in illegal drugs seized through a newly established Drug Task Force
  • Over 1,000 years in combined prison sentences for individuals convicted of felonies against children
  • Expanded rehabilitation programs for low-level offenders

“It’s not a coincidence that crime in the district has gone down,” Holder said. “I want your support so I can keep pushing the crime rates down for another four years.”
