NEWPORT, Ark. – A Jackson County jury has convicted a Newport couple of multiple drug-related charges following a three-day trial involving testimony from more than 15 witnesses and experts from two states, according to the prosecutor.
Paul and Stacy Briscoe were found guilty of operating a drug house at 2801 Tammy Street, a residence located next to Mary Alice Holden Conner Park in Newport. The jury sentenced both defendants to 25 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
According to a post by Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Devon Holder, the prosecution relied on testimony from eight different law enforcement agencies and forensic chemists from Little Rock and Dallas. More than 50 exhibits were introduced during the trial.
The couple’s son, Chris Anders, had previously been sentenced to 50 years in prison for fentanyl trafficking stemming from activity at the same home.
The Prosecutor’s Office plans to seek forfeiture of the property, with proceeds from any future sale expected to benefit the Newport Police Department.
“The Third Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will continue to work hard to prosecute those who knowingly harbor drug dealers,” Holder said in a Facebook post.
