Searcy Teen in Stable Condition After Being Shot While Driving; One Man in Custody

SEARCY, Ark. — A Searcy teenager is in stable condition after being shot in the neck while driving late Saturday night. Police have arrested one man in connection with the shooting.

Just after 11:30 p.m. on May 10, Searcy police responded to what was initially believed to be a single-vehicle crash. Before officers arrived, the caller told dispatchers that the driver, a juvenile, had been shot.

The teen was first taken by NorthStar EMS to Unity Health–White County Medical Center and later transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where police say the victim remains in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers found spent shell casings in a yard near the scene in the 1000 block of West Academy. A tactical team cleared a nearby residence, and three people were detained.

One of them, Edgar Gameros, 44, of Batesville, was later booked into the White County Detention Center. He is accused of committing a terroristic act, a Class B felony. Two other men were arrested on unrelated charges.

The case remains under investigation.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
