JONESBORO, Ark. – The Family Crisis Center will host its second annual Sexual Assault Awareness Seminar on Thursday, April 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Jonesboro.
The event coincides with Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is observed each April. This year’s theme — Together We Act, United We Change — reflects the national message promoted by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center.
The seminar will feature speakers including Doug Strickland, a certified therapist and clinical supervisor at Retrospect Counseling, and Jessica Thomason, chief deputy prosecuting attorney for the Second Judicial District. Organizers say the goal is to educate, support and inspire collective action in addressing and preventing sexual violence.
The Family Crisis Center invites the public to attend and take part in the community-wide effort to raise awareness and support survivors.
