JONESBORO, Ark. — A suspected aggravated residential burglary was stopped early Saturday in Jonesboro after the suspect was shot.
Between 5:15 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. on Sept. 28 at the 1100 block of Walker PL, police responded after a report said a suspect attempted to climb into a victim’s window and was shot by another male, the police report said. The report alleged the suspect was the ex-boyfriend of the victim and tried to break into her apartment.
The probable cause affidavit stated that a male victim inside the residence fired a single shot, striking the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle.
Later in the morning, detectives located the suspect at an address on Beacon. He was suffering from a gunshot wound. Detectives conducted a Mirandized interview of the suspect. The affidavit states he admitted to banging on the door of the victim’s apartment several times, then opening the window and placing a portion of his body through the window just before being shot. He admitted to not living there, referencing being very upset during this time.
The suspect received medical treatment before being taken into custody.
Motrayvise Lee Finley, 19, of Jonesboro, was arrested for aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony. On Monday, Sept. 30, Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to hold Finley in the case and set bail at $150,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was also issued.
Finley’s next court date is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on October 28, 2024.
