Tuckerman Police Chief Resigns After Dispute With City Hall

TUCKERMAN, Ark. – The community of Tuckerman will be searching for a new police chief after their current one resigned over the weekend.

As of 8 PM on Sunday, then-Chief David Dixon resigned as the Tuckerman police chief. In a social media post, Dixon wrote that he “cannot perform and will not work at a job where I am being chewed on for something I didn’t do didn’t know about and didn’t amount to a hill of beans.”

Dixon, who is a former council member and mayor of Tuckerman himself, wrote that he doesn’t perform well while being micro managed.

“With over 39 years as a LEO, I think I know how to do the job. I am at peace with my decision as I wasn’t even looking for the job when it found me.”

Dixon retired from Arkansas State Police in 2015 and was sworn in as the Tuckerman Police Department’s chief of police at the end of 2022.

NEA Report reached out to Tuckerman City Hall to request a comment but have not heard back as of this report.
