POCAHONTAS, Ark. – The Pocahontas Police Department has successfully made an arrest in connection with the theft of flowers from grave sites, which has been a recurring issue in the community since late 2023.
Following numerous reports of flowers being stolen from grave sites, Pocahontas Police Department investigators initiated proactive patrols to apprehend the individual or individuals responsible for these heartless acts, a press release posted to the city’s Facebook page said.
Investigators were able to discern a pattern of behavior exhibited by the suspect, the release said. In collaboration with a local flower shop, law enforcement purchased multiple flower arrangements and strategically placed them throughout the city. Unbeknownst to the suspect, each flower arrangement contained a GPS device discreetly embedded within.
It didn’t take long for the GPS device to be set into motion, ultimately leading officers to a residence within the city limits of Pocahontas on April 9th.

Following proper protocol and after informing the suspect of their rights, investigators retrieved their GPS device and proceeded to make an arrest.
In light of these developments, the Pocahontas Police Department is reaching out to members of the community who may have fallen victim to flower theft from grave sites between December 1st, 2023, and April 9th, 2024. Residents are encouraged to contact the department at 870-892-9867 to report any incidents and potentially seek restitution.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
