Arrests made in West Memphis murder investigation

At approximately 10:54 PM on December 28, officers responded to the intersection of Ingram Blvd and East Barton Avenue in reference to shots being fired in this area and a male laying on the ground.

Officers arrived on the scene and located Samuel Johnson, 21, of West Memphis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived and attempted to stabilize Johnson before he was transported to Baptist Crittenden Hospital. He did not survive.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived to begin their investigation and process the crime scene, the release said.

After interviewing witnesses and examining surveillance footage detectives were able to obtain arrest warrants for Jotavion Ross, 18, and Tyler Triplett, 15, of West Memphis for Capital Murder. Members of the Special Response Team apprehended Jotavion Ross, who was armed with a firearm at the time of his arrest, without incident at a local motel. Tyler Triplett turned himself in to authorities shortly thereafter. Tracey Brown was also taken into custody for hindering apprehension or prosecution.
