POCAHONTAS, Ark. – Yet another judicial change has been made in the murder trial of Rebecca O’Donnell, Areawide Media reported Wednesday morning (Nov. 27, 2019).
As of November 27, 2nd Judicial Circuit Judge John Fogleman has been assigned as special judge in the case, according to reporter Lauren Siebert with Areawide. Judge David Goodson has been removed as the special judge in the case.
Goodson had replaced Judge Harold Erwin.
The Arkansas Supreme Court issued the new assignment order. Siebert reported the news after receiving confirmation from the Supreme Court’s office.
So far, there’s no official word on the reason behind the change.
O’Donnell is facing the death penalty in a capital murder trial that alleges she brutally slayed her former best friend, former State Senator Linda Collins-Smith. O’Donnell was once her campaign aide.
Trial date, which is subject to change, is set for October 19 – October 30, 2020. The pretrial hearing has yet to have a date set and another hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28.
However, these dates are subject to change.
