
WHITE COUNTY, Ark. – After a man was reportedly shot in the head and had his vehicle stolen, he managed to survive and help authorities to arrest two suspects.
It began about 8:18 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2019. The White County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area of Old Kensett Road and Whitney Lane in regard to a man who said that he had been shot in the head and his vehicle stolen. Upon arrival, the victim was identified as Jeffrey Burton, 37 of Heber Springs and had a suspected gunshot wound to his head.
According to Burton, he picked up a female he knew as Crissa Miller and gave her and her friend a ride. Burton went on to say that Miller’s friend shot him in the head and then they took his vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Crissa Miller, 21 of Judsonia and Jake Brown, 24 of Bradford.
A short time later, the vehicle was located at a residence in Jackson County, just North of Bradford and a perimeter was set up so that a search team could be assembled.
With the help of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 tracking team, and multiple jurisdictions, we were able to locate both Miller and Brown and they were arrested.
Jake Brown has been arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Capital Murder, a Class A Felony, Aggravated Robbery, a class Y Felony and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, a Class B Felony.
Crissa Miller was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Commit Capital Murder, a Class A Felony and Aggravated Robbery, a Class Y Felony. Miller also had multiple felony warrants.
Both, Brown and Miller, will appear before the Circuit Court on September 6, 2019 at which time a bond will be set. Their court date is set for November 5, 2019 at 9:00 am.
