
TRUMANN, Ark. – At approximately 7:19 a.m. on February 21, 2018, officers with the Trumann Police Department were dispatched to the 500 block of South Highway 463 in reference to a disturbance. Upon their arrival, they located Darrell Clay Cox, 52 years old of Trumann, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Cox was transported to a Jonesboro hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Officers were given the name of the suspect at the scene.
Trumann police located the suspect, Michael Lee Slaughter, 50 years old of Trumann, a few minutes after the initial dispatch. He was arrested at that time but was suffering from injuries related to the dispute so he was transported to a Jonesboro hospital as well. He has since been treated and released and will be transported to the Poinsett County Detention Center, where he will be held pending a probable cause hearing.
