BAY, Ark. — The City of Bay is gearing up for the 2017 Harvest Festival, with festivities beginning Saturday, September 9.
With a newly formed festival committee, a new date, and loads of new vendors, the goal is to ignite record attendance with a jam-packed, non-stop action event for the whole family to enjoy!“We started planning in January to make sure we would have adequate time to focus on this event, and make it truly successful for our community,” said Keith Milam, who is helping spearhead the planning committee.
Festivities will kick off Saturday, September 9th with the Miss Harvest Festival Pageant, which will begin at 2 p.m. in the Bay School cafeteria. Entry fee for contestants is $45. Additional categories, including Most Photogenic, Best Dressed, and Most Beautiful, can be entered for $10 each. More information can be found by searching for the Miss Harvest Festival Pageant on Facebook, or by emailing bayharvestfestivalpageant@gmail.com.
The highly anticipated annual fish fry will take place at 5 p.m. (until it’s gone) on Friday, September 22nd in the school cafeteria. Dinner will consist of a 3-piece fish or chicken plate with fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, pickles, and a chocolate chip cookie with your choice of tea, coffee, or punch to drink. Cost is $12 for adults, and $3 for children 12-years-old and under.
Saturday, September 23rd is the main event! A wide variety of food and business vendors will be on hand throughout the day, as well as local churches and school groups who will be fundraising for various causes.
Multiple raffles and silent auctions will also occur throughout the event.
The local Senior Citizens Center will be conducting their annual bake sale as well. This is their only fundraiser for the year, and festival attendants are always excited to enjoy some home-baked goods.
To keep the children busy, there will also be a Kid Zone available that will include a GameTruck as well as multiple inflatables. A $10 armband will give kids all-day access to the fun!
