STONE COUNTY, Ark. – A 21-year-old man from Stone County faces accusations of the most heinous behavior.
Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds states that on July 31, 2017, the Stone County Sheriff’s Department received an allegation of sexual abuse. The victim was listed as a three (3) year old male from Stone County. The suspect was listed as Mark Wayne Martin (21 years of age), also of Stone County.
Sheriff Bonds goes on to say that on July 31, 2017, investigators with his agency and the Arkansas State Police Crimes against Children Division interviewed Mark Wayne Martin of Mountain View at the Stone County CID office. In a post Miranda interview, suspect Martin, confessed that he had sexual contact on at least two occasions with the victim.
Prosecuting Attorney Holly Meyer has charged Mark Wayne Martin with two (2) counts of rape, a Class Y Felony and Sexual Indecency with a Child, a Class D Felony. Martin is currently being held in the Stone County Detention Center. His bond has been set at $100,000.00.
However, the case was not yet finished.
On August 3, 2017, the sheriff’s department received another allegation about the same case. A witness came forward and said that Gadel Shai Bigham had been assisting in the rape of the 3-year-old child.
Bigham was located by deputies for questioning. In a news release, the sherifff said she confessed to assisting Martin in the rape and sexual assault of a 3-year-old baby. She also allegedly confessed to threatening the witness if anything was said about the horror.
She has been formally charged with two counts of rape, one count of intimidating a witness and being an accomplice. Her bond was set at $100,000.
