Bay Fire Department ISO rating getting big upgrade

BAY, Ark. – A big honor for the Bay Fire Department could mean savings for those in the county.

The Bay Fire Department learned Monday their ISO rating would be going up to three effective November 1, 2017. The department has been an ISO five rating since 2012, said Bay Firefighter John Cook.

“Only 3,409 depts nationwide are class three with about 1,300 class two and 247 class one,” Cook said. “We scored 74.52 points out of 105.5. Bay Fire Department is in the top 10-percent nationwide to have a class three rating.”

ISO, or Insurance Service Office, is a for profit organization providing statistical information on risk, according to FireServiceInfo.com. The ISO rating is from 10 – 1 with “1” being the best.

“Bay Fire takes great pride in announcing this achievement and in exceeding this higher level of expectation within our district,” Cook said.
