Source: Explosives, guns found on man during Black Rock stop

BLACK ROCK, Ark. – A traffic stop in Lawrence County yielded an alarming discovery, several law enforcement sources confirm to NEA Report.

Late Thursday, Steven Aguinaga, 41, of Hoxie, was stopped by a Black Rock police officer for speeding, a law enforcement source told NEA Report on the condition of anonymity.

During the course of the stop, two hand grenades were found along with other weapons and ammunition, the source said. A second Lawrence County source was also able to confirm this.

Black Rock Police Chief Daniel Hill spoke to NEA Report at 11:30 a.m. Friday. We asked him if a traffic stop had occurred with officers finding grenades. He said he could not release any word at this time, pending his cooperation with “other agencies.” He would not say what those agencies were.

NEA Report has been told by a source the ATF is involved. The Black Rock police chief did not deny this when asked, stating he was “not able to release information at this time.”

He only confirmed the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department was involved in the investigation.

The MobilePatrol App shows Aguinaga booked into Lawrence County Jail on charges of theft by receiving, possession of firearms by certain person and criminal use of prohibited weapon.

NEA Report has reached out to and left a message for several law enforcement agencies. We will share any updates as they are made available.
