JONESBORO, Ark. – The man seen shooting five shots, at least, on video in a crowded downtown party venue on May 14 in Jonesboro has an almost unbelievable criminal past while the other suspect is also known to police.
Chauncey Jovon Thomas, 19, of Jonesboro, turned himself in on Sunday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. A bond of $1 million was set for Thomas in court Tuesday afternoon.
Kalius Jaciel Lane, 20, also known as “KK,” was arrested late Monday in Texas as he tried to flee charges he had claimed he was innocent of. His claims were silenced after video surfaced which unquestionably showed him firing five shots, at least, in a crowded party in Downtown Jonesboro early Sunday.
It wasn’t the first time either Thomas or Lane had been in trouble but for Lane, his rap sheet is almost unbelievable.
“KK’s” Criminal Past

From theft to assault, the man who posted laughing face-emojis on Facebook hours after shooting someone is no stranger to police. This extensive compilation of arrests came from one department only. We are in the process of contacting other departments to follow leads about other arrests.
It should also be noted these are only his arrests from age 18 forward. We can not review his record from when he was a juvenile.
The following all occurred within the purview of Jonesboro Police Department:
On April 24, 2015, Lane was accused of third degree misdemeanor battery for repeatedly punching a man who said he was trying to get in between Lane and another during an argument. The man had swelling to the forehead, a busted lower lip and pain in his jaw.
On April 28, 2015, Lane was arrested for driving hazardously, not having a driver’s license and being in possession of a controlled substance (pills).
On June 16, 2015, Lane was arrested for trespassing at Garden Manor apartments, where lane had been criminally banned five days before. He was arrested.
On November 10, 2015, police responded to a call about a man with a gun in his back pocket on the delivery floor at NEA Hospital with a pregnant female. The man was seen getting into a vehicle. Authorities stopped the suspect vehicle on Johnson Avenue, which contained both Chauncey Thomas and Lane. Lane was found to have marijuana on his person and a bag of marijuana nearby. He was arrested.
On November 15, 2015, Lane was arrested for a warrant which revoked his probation.
On August 14, 2016, JPD Officer Joseph McDermott pulled over a silver 2008 Pontiac G6, driven by Lane, who said he didn’t have a license. Shortly after the officer walked back to his patrol car, Lane bolted and ran eastbound down Race Street. Several K9s were brought in to track Lane. He was eventually found hiding in a stranger’s home in bed with the sheets pulled over his head. Several bags of marijuana were found on Lane, who sources say is a drug dealer. He resisted police during the arrest, officers said.
He has referenced himself as having customers and discussed drug activity openly on his public Facebook profile.
On March 16, 2016, Lane was arrested with warrants during a traffic stop where he was a passenger. Police observed suspected marijuana inside of his teeth and gum area, indicating he had tried to eat/destroy evidence before making contact with police. He faced a tampering with physical evidence charge for this.
On April 21, 2016, officers again made contact with Lane, who was driving in excess of 80 miles per hour in a 20 mile per hour zone, a report said.
On September 7, 2016, Lane was a suspect in a theft taking place at an apartment. The report said Lane had stolen her television after the resident kicked out Kurlonda Mathis and Tionna Hunter. The report indicated Mathis was Lane’s “baby momma.”
On November 8, 2016, Lane was one of four suspects listed in a report of criminal mischief, where two different mothers of Lane’s children had some type of dispute with Lane in the middle. Daja Alize Giles, 19, of Jonesboro, reported her car was struck by a vehicle owned by Kyraa Huntley – another mother of one of Lane’s children, according to Giles’ report. Giles, too, shared a child with Lane.
On December 8, 2016, Lane was arrested by JPD Officer Michael McQuay for having a contempt of court warrant.
On January 23, 2017, Jonesboro police officer Justin Thompson was dispatched to the 2200-block of Clover Drive to a disturbance call. The caller flagged the officer down and told him her friend had been “jumped.” The victim, female, 19, spoke to police and said she had been with Daja Alize Giles, 19, of Jonesboro, when Lane jumped out of a car and began to hit her. Her nose was swollen and had redness. An EMS was called to the scene. The incident stemmed from Lane having been said to have taken items which did not belong to him. He repeatedly punched the girl, the report said.
Thomas’ Past

The other suspect, Thomas, was arrested by JPD at least four times in 2016. Most of the arrests were for warrants for contempt of court.
However, on April 27, 2016, Thomas was arrested for third degree battery for beating the mother of his child. The report said Thomas pushed a table on her, grabbed her by the hair, started punching her in the face and wouldn’t stop until others pulled him off of her. Officers noticed swelling above her right eye and missing hair.
