Hiring freeze lifted for NEARA

POWHATAN, Ark. – The hiring freeze impeding the ability of the Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives has been lifted.

The news was posted to the Lawrence County Historical Society’s Facebook page late Friday.

“Great news. Just learned that Director of the Department of Arkansas Heritage has unfrozen the positions at NEARA and SARA. Can’t wait to see the job postings,” the post read.

NEA Report highlighted NEARA and its offerings – and struggles – earlier this year in a special report.
