Hoxie – The First Stand to be honored at capitol Monday

LITTLE ROCK – Hoxie -The First Stand, the story of the 1955 integration of the Hoxie Schools, will be recognized at the Arkansas State Capitol on Monday.

Visitors and supporters are invited to stop by the display on the 2nd floor rotunda between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 13. A news conference will be held at noon.

State Representative Fran Cavenaugh will present a resolution for Hoxie-The First Stand in the legislative session beginning at 1:30 p.m. Plenty of seating will be available in the gallery for anyone wishing to attend this session.

Transportation to Little Rock will be available for anyone who needs a ride.

“We hope to have a lot of people in attendance in support of the special recognition of this historical event,” The event’s Facebook page reads. “Hope to see you there!”
