
NIMMONS, Ark. – A horrifying situation is being described by Clay County Sheriff Terry Miller from this month.
It happened late Monday, Feb. 6. At about 8:30 p.m., Clay County Deputies responded to a call on Diament Street in Nimmons. The caller stated that she had been taken against her will and beaten. She told officers her kidnapper had passed out and she was able to get away and use a neighbor’s phone.
When deputies arrived at the address, they were able to locate the victim. She had numerous injuries, the press release stated.
The victim was able to instruct officers to the location of which she was held and advised them there was another person injured inside the residence.
Deputies located a suspect, Joshua Hurte, 33, of Nimmons – unresponsive inside the residence. Deputies were able to locate another individual in the back of the residence after they went inside. This subject advised they were not injured but witnessed the events that had transpired.
Deputies spoke to Hurte at which point he became very aggressive and disorderly, the press release stated.
Hurte was then placed into custody and taken to the Clay County Detention Center. Hurte is being charged with domestic battery second degree, false imprisonment in the first degree, and two counts of terroristic threatening in the first degree.
Hurte’s bond is set at $100,000.
