Scam targeting Craighead Co. residents

JONESBORO, Ark. – Scammers are starting the new year on the wrong foot in Craighead County.

The Craighead County Assessor’s Office has received information about a possible scam and they’ve issued a release about it.

Citizens are saying they have received a phone call from our office stating that their assessment is late or incorrect and that money is owed. The caller also tried to verify birthdates and other personal information.

“Please know that our office does NOT have phone numbers, birthdays or any other identifying information,” Craighead County Assessor Hannah Towell said in a release. “Nor do we collect money. Therefore you will never receive a phone call from us about a late assessment, personal information or money owed.”

If you have any questions, call the assessor’s office at 870-933-4570.
