JONESBORO, Ark. – A traffic stop led to an arrest of a Lawrence County man in Jonesboro over the holiday weekend.

At about 8:17 p.m. Friday night, Jonesboro Police Officer Alex Duncan stopped a white Chevrolet Blazer on Gee Street, north of the railroad tracks. The SUV had a headlight out.

In the report, Duncan said the driver, Ronald A. Banter, 54, of Hoxie, gave consent for his vehicle to be searched. While he was given a written warning for the headlight, Duncan noticed he had dropped a pack of cigarettes on the ground, the report states.

Another patrol officer opened the pack and found a piece of aluminum foil with a plastic bag containing what was believed to be methamphetamine.

Banter was arrested for possession of meth, less than two grams (a felony). He was transported to Craighead County Detention Center. His vehicle was towed.
