JONESBORO, Ark. – Candidates made their last pitch to many voters Wednesday as they waved signs in front of the Election Annex building on Jefferson Street in Jonesboro.
For the third consecutive day in Jonesboro, early voting turnout was at some of the largest numbers many in the office have seen. 1,815 voted Wednesday, compared to 1,861 Tuesday, and 1,670 Monday, according to Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday.
The total who have early voted in three days in Craighead County is 5,346. Holliday said it is the highest turnout he has personally witnessed.
“It is an incredible turn out,” Holliday said. “Great to see so many people wanting to have their voice heard and be a part of the process.”
By comparison, in two weeks of early voting for the primary this year, 6,800 early voted. If Monday thru Wednesday’s pace continues, that will be surpassed sometime Thursday afternoon.
Many candidates were present for many offices Wednesday afternoon. NEA Report visited all who were present and took several photos.
