JONESBORO, Ark. – Say goodbye to the “Big K” in Jonesboro.
The long-time staple store at 2010 South Caraway Road shopping center was announced Friday to be one of 64 stores to close nationwide.
The struggling retail chain was once a powerhouse. Now owned by Sears Holdings, Inc., the chain has seemed unable to find its footing in the 2000s.
Liquidation sales are said to begin this week, around September 22. According to a report from Business Insider, the stores should be closed by mid-December – just in time for the holidays.
Moody’s analysts downgraded Sears’ liquidity rating last week and openly stated both Sears and Kmart do not have enough money to stay in business.
The company has not announced plans related to the Sears store on Highland Drive in Jonesboro, which remains open.
