JONESBORO, Ark. – A resident got quite the scare when he ran outside at three suspects attempting to break into his home: one of the men fired a gun to scare him.

It happened at apartments at 3707 School Street, where police arrived Monday morning at 6 a.m. to a report of three young black men trying to break into a home. A couple was asleep inside when they heard the noise and the man ran outside.

That was when one of the suspects pointed a small black pistol at him, the report said. The man told officers he jumped back and the suspect fired three or four times into the air before driving off in a gray Pontiac passenger car, headed east on School Street.

The back window screen was bent and broken, as if someone tried to pry it open from the outside, officers observed.

Suspects could face felony charges including aggravated assault, breaking or entering, and criminal mischief charges, too.
