Osceola millage passes Tuesday

OSCEOLA, Ark. – A millage increase for the Osceola School District passed by a decent margin Tuesday night.

The 1.5 mill increase passed with 488 voting for and 321 voting against. Those results are still unofficial until certified by the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office.

Several posted happy thoughts about the passage on the school district’s Facebook page. Jeanette Walker was one who expressed her thanks to everyone voting for the millage.

“This was not just a vote for athletic facilities,” Walker wrote. “It was a vote for the future of our kids, our school district and our city.”

The 1.5 mill increase will go toward improvements for the football field, the track, as well as a new basketball arena.
