HOXIE, Ark. – As one new business is slated to move into the U.S. 67B shopping center, another is moving to the town next door.
Ma and Pa’s Flea Market, a staple business in the U.S. 67 B shopping center just off the main highway in Walnut Ridge, is moving to the former Save-A-Lot grocery store building on SW Texas Street in Hoxie.
Just down the same parking lot, Tractor Supply Inc. announced a new storefront earlier in June.
Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker had worked since the previous tenants vacated the building to find another grocery store option but he seemed to find no interested parties despite his search. He even offered free rent for a grocery store moving in for the rest of the year, at one point.
However, now, Ma and Pa’s is slated to buy the building, taking the worry and burden off of the City of Hoxie.
Walnut Ridge Mayor Charles Snapp called it a “win-win.”
“Ma and Pa’s Flea Market brings a lot of people to town, so I’m pleased to hear they are staying local,” Snapp said. “I’m also pleased to hear they have a chance to own their own building. This sounds like a win-win for everyone.”
