JONESBORO, Ark. – A man who was already in trouble with the law upped the ante by allegedly stripping nude in court.
Derrick Thomas, 18, of Jonesboro, faces several more charges after police reported he hatched a scheme to take his clothes off in court.
It began with Thomas asking Officer Jamie Seaborn to get a drink out of a sink. While the officer was supervising other prisoners, Thomas reportedly ran out of the bathroom, pulled his pants down and took his shirt off, and ran into court.
“He ran into the courtroom near Judge Blackman’s bench,” Seaborn wrote in the report. “He held up his hands with his shirt in his hands.”
Seaborn said Thomas then yelled “court is back in session.”
Blackman stopped court, as by that time, everyone was looking at the nude suspect.
It took several officers to remove Thomas. Seaborn reported he passively resisted officers attempts to take him from the courtroom.
“I told you I would do it,” Thomas yelled to an inmate, according to Seaborn’s report. He also reportedly said it would be written on his tombstone about the incident.
In addition to other charges, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, obstruction of governmental operations, and resisting arrest charges must now be answered by Thomas as well. He was taken to Craighead County Detention Center, following the incident.
Strangely, Thomas has exhibited voyeuristic behavior in the past, according to previous reports. KAIT reported he was arrested May 5 for lying nude on a sidewalk.
