PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested on multiple charges, including two felonies, after police investigated a domestic disturbance and later stopped his vehicle with a juvenile family member inside, according to court records.
Jacob A. Swain, 36, was arrested on allegations of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of a controlled substance, both Class D felonies, as well as misdemeanor third-degree assault and DWI.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Paragould Police Department, officers were dispatched April 4, 2026, to Pecan Grove in reference to a domestic disturbance. Before officers arrived, they were told the potential defendant, identified as Swain, had left the area in a red Ford truck.
When officers arrived, they made contact with the alleged victim, who told them Swain had been drinking and taking pills. She said that while they were leaving the residence to go to the store, she dumped out his beer, which made him angry. The alleged victim told police Swain grabbed her arm and squeezed her wrist, causing pain that hurt “really bad,” according to the affidavit.
A short time later, officers saw the red Ford truck near the intersection of South 2nd Avenue and East Baldwin Street. Police said they knew Swain had been involved in the domestic disturbance and also knew he had an active warrant.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Swain, who was driving the vehicle. According to the affidavit, officers noticed the odor of intoxicants on his breath and observed that his eyes were bloodshot and watery.
After Swain got out of the vehicle, officers arrested him on the warrant. During a search of his person, police said they found three white pills believed to be hydrocodone. A search of the vehicle also yielded a cold Mike’s Hard Lemonade, according to the affidavit. A juvenile family member was also present in the vehicle.
After being taken to the police department, Swain was advised of his rights and agreed to a breath alcohol test, which showed a result of 0.08, according to the affidavit. Police said he also provided a urine sample that will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for processing.
Court records show Swain’s bail was set at $10,000 cash or surety in the felony case.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
