PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested on a felony domestic battery charge after police said officers found injuries on his pregnant fiancée following a disturbance call.
Dylan Chaffin, 22, was arrested on a charge of third-degree domestic battering, a Class D felony if the suspect knew or reasonably should have known the victim was pregnant.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were called March 31, 2026, to a local business on Linwood Drive for a physical domestic disturbance in progress inside a vehicle. Before officers arrived, the vehicle left the scene heading southbound, but officers were able to locate it and conduct a traffic stop.
Police identified Chaffin as the driver of the vehicle, according to the affidavit. His pregnant fiancée was in the passenger seat.
Officers observed injuries to the defendant’s right eye and forehead that police said were consistent with him punching himself. Officers also observed injuries to the neck, face and forehead area of his fiancée, according to the affidavit.
The affidavit said Chaffin told officers he punches himself frequently when he gets angry. After being advised of his rights, Chaffin told police his fiancée had tried to keep him from hitting himself, according to the affidavit. Police said the defendant also agreed he “probably” caused the injuries to his fiancée during that time.
Bail was set at $5,000, according to jail records.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
