Paragould Sex Offender Arrested on Felony Charge Alleging Unregistered Social Media Accounts

PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould sex offender was arrested on a felony charge alleging he failed to comply with Arkansas registration and reporting requirements by using unregistered social media accounts, along with a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge.

Brian Lee Cannon, 50, was arrested for failure to comply with registration and reporting requirements, a Class C felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. Bail was set at $150,000 cash or surety with a requirement for an ankle monitor.

According to the probable cause affidavit, authorities reported Cannon was using unregistered social media accounts to communicate with juvenile females.

The affidavit said Cannon is on active probation supervision with a search waiver on file. During a search of Cannon’s phone, investigators allegedly found an active unregistered TikTok account.

Authorities also searched Cannon’s residence and reported finding drug paraphernalia, according to the affidavit.

A more thorough search of Cannon’s phone allegedly revealed multiple other active unregistered social media accounts on applications not currently installed on his device.

Cannon was previously found guilty of failure to comply in 2021 and was sentenced to 72 months of probation, according to court records.

Court records show Cannon was originally convicted in 2008 of second-degree sexual assault and sentenced to 12 years in prison. That case involved allegations that he inappropriately touched a 6-year-old victim. A 13-year-old also told investigators she was touched inappropriately.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
