PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould suspect was arrested after police say he cashed a fraudulent check at a local bank earlier this year.
According to a probable cause affidavit, an officer received a call from a local bank at approximately 3:51 p.m. Feb. 24, 2026, regarding a reported forgery and theft.
Bank employees told police the defendant, Daniel Williamson, 53, brought in a check around 2:40 p.m. that day in the amount of $4,571.25 and was able to cash it.
According to the affidavit, bank staff contacted the owner of the account the check was written from. The account holder told the bank they did not know Williamson and had not written or signed the check.
The bank later provided camera footage to police showing the defendant conducting the transaction, according to the report.
Williamson was arrested on charges of second-degree forgery, a Class C felony, and theft of property greater than $1,000 but less than $5,000, a Class D felony.
All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
